Welcome to Frenchfully!
We are Iulia, a Romanian advertising executive and writer, author of The Love Project (details on iuliacalota.com), and Alistair, an Englishman from the North West and retail designer. We have both lived in London for a very long time, but in November 2017 we’ve moved to the South West of France, in the stunning area of Pyrenees Atlantiques.
It was only our third date and we were already talking about moving somewhere else in the world. Four years later, we made it happen. We packed all the stuff we had accumulated in our flat in Streatham, got our cat Heathcliff (a rescue boy from Battersea Cats and Dogs) delivered two weeks later and we now live on a farm in Autevielle, five minutes drive from the medieval village of Sauveterre-de-Bearn. Our family now has increased by twelve chickens and five goats (Tilly, Poppy, Buddy, Opal and Onyx) and we are learning our way to living in the French countryside.
This blog is meant to entertain (yes, we have lots of stories) but also to inform. Because we also want you to discover the charms of the area we have chosen for our home, to inspire you to visit or to make the most of it when you do.
